Salesforce Release Highlights for Nonprofits
“It’s that time of year, when Salesforce provides its users an early holiday present! I’ve been poring through the Winter ‘17 Release Notes, locating the gems that will have the greatest impact for our nonprofit clients. There are a few clear winners.
The final instances will go live with the new release this weekend! You may not need to do anything to enable these releases. Read each feature link carefully to learn more.
As with the Summer ‘16 Release, Salesforce is doubling down on Lightning. We’d go so far as to say that in this release, most new features are only for Lightning. We’ve recommended the best for Classic, and some standout Lightning features.
We’ll discuss the transition from Classic to Lightning below, as well as in more depth in an upcoming post.
Useful Updates to Sales Cloud for Nonprofit Admins (Classic)
If you’re managing your organization’s Salesforce system in Classic, here are a few notable upgrades to help you streamline, track data, and communicate better.
Enhancements to Data Import Wizard for Campaigns: Now you can add and update campaign members upon import with the data wizard, including contacts, leads, and person accounts. Just use their Salesforce ID. Nonprofits use campaigns heavily for everything from donation asks to event attendance, so this is a welcome update.
Streamlined Picklist Management: Global picklists have made picklist creation more efficient. Now, you can also use global value sets in picklist dependencies. As well, there are higher character limits for standard multi-select picklists (now 255 characters)! No more trying to squish your long option into two few words.”
