While your muscles and joints are strengthened each time you work out, your skin develops special needs due to the exertion it goes through. Those in sports have a lifestyle that can often be taxing on the skin. As an athlete, you have to make an effort to keep your skin protected from harmful sunrays and/or undergoing extreme dryness. 1. Sunscreen is a must.
According some estimates, skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer affecting one in five Americans. The sun has harmful rays that can cause skin cancer if you don’t put sunscreen on every time you’re heading out the door. The level of SPF or Sun Protection Factor in the sunscreen you use determines how much of the ultraviolet rays will be blocked from reaching your skin. Remember, working out makes you sweat a lot so you may have to reapply the sunscreen to ensure proper protection.
2. Keep yourself hydrated.
Besides drinking lots of water among other beverages, consider having an aloe vela drink mix because it packs a ton of vitamins and electrolytes that are great for your skin.
3. Make hygiene a priority.

5. Wear the right gear.
For athletic clothing, lightweight moisture-wicking fabric that is able to absorb sweat is the way to go. A lot of athletes get bruises and blisters because they don’t wear proper protective gear. In order to prevent blisters, consider wearing protective gloves or specialized socks. If you do have small cuts or scrapes, cover it with bandage ensures that you’re protected against germs.
6. See a dermatologist periodically.
While you should check skin often for signs of skin disease, it’s equally important to set aside some time every few months to meet with your dermatologist. Don’t let any signs unnoticed because as the old axiom says ‘prevention is better than cure’ and that couldn’t be truer in the case of skin diseases.
